Taking to the stage with his fearless and sunburnt features is Ohno Satoshi. Starting his busy 10th year with a bang, Ohno filmed his drama Uta no Oniisan.
Although it was a tough three months of filming, the sense of accomplishment that I felt at the end outweighed all that. I was blessed by the staff and the actors whom I worked with, we really had a great team going on there. You know, I discovered something recently. Whenever I get busy with shooting dramas I start to have an excessive craving for fishing. That being said, during periods when I have time to spare, I do have an urge to go fishing as well. In other words, I just want to go fishing all the time, I guess. (laughs)
Ohno chuckles as he states how bad he is at handling busyness. Don’t you think that Ohno’s my-pace attitude is hardly befitting of an idol at the peak of his popularity?
Although everyone tells me that Arashi is amazing, I don’t actually feel it realistically. Even at our 10th year anniversary, I just went, “Oh, it’s been 10 years already?” I went by everyday in a happy go lucky manner, so I thought, isn’t it great that Arashi is like that?
Even for someone like me, I was stoic in the past. Like a typical A blood type, I notice and worry about every single thing. However, nowadays I just go, “Let’s take things slowly.” Perhaps it so happened that I’ve changed into an O blood type? (laughs)
For Ohno who’s the oldest amongst all the members in Arashi, he turns 29 this year. Has there been any changes within you as an adult?
As an Arasa? [Translator’s note: the term Arasa denotes a person who’s around their 30’s] Nothing at all, I think. It’s troublesome, so in fact so I hope to just turn 30. However I’m just helplessly a kid inside. Although I’ve been this way, the members are really reliable. As long as I can trail at the backs of the others I feel at peace. (laughs)
On the day where we celebrated our 10th year anniversary, I made a super large fried rice (chahan) and we had a party. Everyone gobbled up their food and someone suggested, “Shall we have an afternoon nap then?”
Even as Ohno is exuding shyness, he warmly watches over the other members. Surely it’s because of Riida, that Arashi has turned out like that. In his private life, he comes up close and personal with himself.
Fishing to me is a time of nothingness. I feel happy just being above the ocean. I didn’t do much drawing recently. Whenever I face a piece of paper, I can’t seem to do anything. I guess we have times like that. I’ll start drawing again someday, so I’ll relax and wait for that day to come. If I hurry the process I’ll get tired. (laughs)
Riida’s message to Nino: I’m fascinated by your magic!
I have no words to describe Nino’s charm, other than the word, “Everything”. If I had to apply a catchphrase [to Nino] it would be “The Almighty Man!” In particular, I have nothing but admiration for his advances in magic. That’s because everyone forgets about solving the magic trick and is just mesmerized by the deftness of Nino’s hands. (laughs) The greatest memory I have with Nino is (no surprises there) Ohmiya SK, I guess. We were so brilliant then… But my passion for the reunion of Ohmiya SK hasn’t changed one bit! What if we had some time off? That’s it, I’ll invite Nino to some trendy department store. I’m extremely interested in what the “Almighty Man” will buy. And this is something that happens once in a while, I have times when I think that I don’t want to lose to Nino. For example, if Nino were to go for a date at Roppongi Hills, I would go to the newer Mid Town. And stuff like that. (laughs) I wonder why that is?
