This is probably my favorite interview so far this year.

Ask ARASHI anything! Questions from Arashi fans all over Japan pour in as they’re presented in this month’s Orista.

OHNO SATOSHI

20 year old from Osaka: What did you do with the ears that you wore on Kaibutsu-kun?

They’re at home. The make-up artist who puts on the ears for me lined them up neatly in a box, like gyoza, and gave all the ears that we have used thus far to me as a present. They look really nice that way, so I’m not taking them out but rather using them as a decoration at home.

19 year old from Kanagawa: What is the sea which you would most like to go to right now?

Miyakojima in Okinawa. I like that place.

28 year old from Hokkaido: What thoughts did you have after singing “The Happy, Thrilling Kaibutsu-kun”?

I wasn’t thinking of anything at all. But it felt good, since the song had a happy feel to it.

20 year old from Tokyo: Please tell us of any episodes that you had as you recorded “The Happy, Thrilling Kaibutsu-kun”.

Episodes…? The recording proceeded pretty quickly.  My hands were stretched straightly at my side, and I was standing at complete attention while singing with an optimistic air. The staff had a good laugh when they saw me. (laughs) But that day was pretty tough. I put on my special effects make-up in the morning, went to Gunma and filmed all the way till at night. And then when I returned to Tokyo, I recorded the single. I was so tired, so I [went in] with a slack feel. It probably was fitting for the recording too. (laughs)

19 year old from Tokyo: Where would you like to live after you’ve turned 60?

Sixty? … I’ve not thought that far ahead about my life before.

However, you’ve have proclaiming things like, “I want to become a person like Nara Yoshitomo-san.”, right? It seems like you have been able to portray a more adult-like image compared to the past, right?

You know, Nara-san is such a cool person. That’s right, for me, I’ll… wander the world, yes?

But the question asked you where you would like to stay.

But I wouldn’t live in [one place]. I wouldn’t settle down anywhere, right?

The next question is rather elaborate. A 22 year old from Chiba would like to ask you: What question would you ask to what species of fish?”

To the fish that I caught, I would ask, “Does it hurt anywhere?” “How do you feel?”

Do you feel a sense of guilt when you catch those fish? Since you asked whether they feel any pain?

Nope, not at all. (laughs) [Translator: I think Ohno isn’t aware of the existence of PETA.] Although I don’t feel guilty, there are fish who come again after they have been caught once. If it hurts them, they shouldn’t be coming again, right? But since they came again, I was wondering if it’s painful for them and where.

25 year old from Chiba: What’s the next province/locale that you would like to visit after your concert?

Hmmm… I wonder where…

How about Okinawa?

It’s true that I’ve never been there before. Okinawa sounds good… Then, I might go to Shikoku.

There’s a really big assembly hall in Shikoku, right?

Even if it isn’t very large, I would like to go there.

16 year old from Ibaraki: It was mentioned on Music Station that Sho-kun had a peculiar habit, so please tell us about any peculiar habits that the members have!

Peculiar habits? Hmmm… I… don’t know. I guess the person with the greatest number of peculiar habits is me?

Could you name us some examples?

I end up fiddling with many things. Such as my nose. Or things that have been left by the side.

13 year old from Aichi: What would you want to do if you had the chance to live your life all over again? “This is a question from a 13 year old girl.”

A 13 year old? Isn’t it rather early to be thinking about re-living your life at 13 years old? I wouldn’t want to live my life all over again. Not ever. I mean, you have to start ALL over again, right? Like from when you’re a child. But I guess a 13 year old would think of matters like that. Things like, “I should have studied harder.”

Or “I wish I had been born in a rich family.” Has Ohno-san ever thought of something like, “If only I had done that!”

I guess the only thing would have been English… Well, I could still work on it now! (laughs) If I had worked on it since I was young it would be a breeze now, wouldn’t it?

But there isn’t a situation right now where you are required to use English, right? Or do you wish to enter into Hollywood?

No no no! (laughs)

13 year old from Shizuoka: Is there a particular Aniki guest which you’d like to meet on Arashi ni Shiyagare?

If my imagination could have free rein, I would like to meet Bruce Lee. We won’t have much time, but I would like him to teach us as much as he can within that period. Of course, I would like to see those movements live. He’s pretty fast!
