By the time I finished translating the whole thing, I was so sure that I had read this somewhere before. If you happened to be the person who translated it when the article came out, I apologise! It’s hard to keep track in fandom.

Maniacal Q & A: 5 x 10
On their 10th anniversary, the fans ask Arashi the 50 questions they’ve been wanting the answer to!
Questions for Ohno
Q1: Is it really true that the members have never met Ohno-kun’s parents?
A: I’m totally OK with it, but my parents are embarrassed and said that they don’t want to.
Q2: In this tour, there were songs where you have skinship with Jun-kun and Nino, but tell us the truth, who do you prefer being with?
A: Matsujun. (laughs) There’s a section in “A Day in Our Life” where we both sing together. And because we’ve been doing that since way back I’ve grown used to it. Kinda like husband and wife. (laughs)
Q3: Was the choreography in “Boku ga Boku no Subete” done by Ohno-kun, as publicly declared to Jun-kun?
A: Honestly speaking… I didn’t. (sweatdrop) I did just a teeny bit of the choreography for the chorus!
Q4: Are you in the middle of producing a large scale drawing?
A: It’s coming along slooowly. I’m drawing in people, objects and patterns using a superfine pen. I’m going to join all the pieces which I’ve drawn on sketch paper into a large drawing, so it might be really huge?!*
Translator’s note: Could Ohno be referring to the magnificent seahorse sketch he did with all those figures and objects? I love stuff like that.
Q5: Is Ohmiya SK going to make a comeback?
A: It depends on the duo from Ohmiya SK… Heh. (laughs)
Q6: I’m worried about my sunburn. Please tell me how I should take care of my skin!
A: Girls who are sunburnt look healthy, that’s cute! Recently, I went out to sea for a full day and got sunburnt. (laughs)
Q7: What’s the wallpaper on your cell phone right now?
A: A newborn photo of myself. It’s not a photo I’ve used in a concert, so it’s an unreleased secret photo! Matsujun used to have my photo [as his wallpaper], but he seems to have changed it recently. (cries)
Q8: How do you address your parents?
A: When I was young, I used to call them Papa and Mama. I do every now and then too. Most of the time, I strike up a conversation by saying, “What’s for dinner?”
Q9: What’s your favorite Disney character?
A: Donald Duck. I love the balance [i.e. shape] of his body!
Q10: What’s the most intense present you’ve ever received from the members?
A: The swimming cap and goggles that Nino gave me. He said, “With this, you won’t be discovered even on the streets, right?” That’s true, but if I were to be discovered, I would be called a pervert!
Translator’s note: Damn straight, Nino.
Questions for Aiba
Q1: What’s your therapy during drama filming?
A: It’s got to be Momoka-chan!* It’s soothing just to be with her. Recently, when she said to me, “I saw you on Pussuma!” and I said, “Thank you!”, it made me feel lightheaded.
Translator’s note: Ishii Momoka was the little girl who acted as Aiba’s daughter in My Girl.
Q2: What was the toughest location you had to film on Shimura Dobutsuen?
A: I went to search for a Tasmanian tiger in Tasmania. For about 5 days, we were searching but we couldn’t find it. The terrain was tough…
Q3: For Aiba-kun who was a basketball player in his youth, who was your favorite Slam Dunk character?
A: Sendou-kun. The reason being… nothing in particular. I just thought that he was cool. (laughs)
Translator’s note: Slam Dunk manga! Sendou was cool but I liked Mitsui better. So much angst, so much regret…
Q4: For Aiba-kun who goes to the baths with various people after concerts, who have you spent the most bath time with in the past 10 years?
A: It may seem like I spent a lot of time with Sho-kun, but surprisingly, I think I spent about the same amount of time with everyone. There were times where the 5 of us just went for those gigantic baths at places like bathhouses.
Q5: Which Johnny’s member do you hang out with outside of Arashi?
A: Murakami (Shingo)-kun, who’s co-acting with me now. Recently we went to an acquaintance’s house and had a meal there.
Q6: What’s the wallpaper on your cell phone right now?
A: A normal clock. A while it was a photo of Momoka-chan smiling.
Q7: Did your family come for your 10th anniversary concert?
A: My mom and my brother came. Because it was the 10th anniversary, I was extremely happy.
Q8: What was the most intense birthday present you’ve ever received from the other members?
A: It has got to be the whole body tights from Nino. (laughs) It’s in a cupboard in my house now.
Q9: How did you address your parents when you were young and how do you address them now?
A: It’s never changed: Dad and Mom.
Q10: What’s your favorite Disney character?
A: It’s got to be Mickey. There are dreams to be had in Disney!
Questions for Jun
Q1: How did you feel having your birthday celebrated at Kokuritsu?
A: It was a deeply memorable day to be starting my 26th year there. The dazzling jersey which I received from the members is the emphasis in my closet right now.
Q2: What’s the favorite hairstyle that you’ve had so far?
A: The one I had in the 2004 movie, “Tokyo Tower”.
Q3: What’s your basis for selecting songs on your radio show, JUN STYLE?
A: It totally depends on what I feel like listening to at the moment.
Q4: I would love for the concerts held at the various provinces to be released on DVD! Jun-kun, can’t you do something about it?
A: I don’t have that much influence. (laughs) Due to the machinery which we have to transport, it’s recorded in Tokyo, but this time round, we filmed bits from the various locales. We’re thinking of incorporating it somewhere, but we’re deliberating on whether to use the footage or not.
Q5: What happened to the promise you made to Nino where you would coordinate an entire outfit for his birthday?
I let it slide because it would cost too much money. (laughs) If I had to choose, it would probably be a suit, I guess?
Translator’s note: Wasn’t Nino the stingy one in this relationship?
Q6: When you debuted, you said that you were Sho-kun’s No. 1 fan! How about now?
A: I’m not a fan of anyone now! I’m a fan of Arashi.
Q7: What’s the wallpaper on your cell phone right now?
A: Ta-da! (It was a picture of Michael Jackson.)
Q8: Did your family say anything about Arashi or the 10th year anniversary?
A: Before the concert, my dad sent me a text, saying, “Congratulations on your 10th year anniversary. Have a great concert! I’m hyping it up from where I am!” It’s been a long time since my family came to see me at Kokuritsu. Furthermore, my mother’s ringtone is an Arashi melody. It seems that the ringtone differs from person to person. There’s songs like “Love So Sweet”, and when I heard “Koi wa Breakin”, I was surprised because that’s a pretty hardcore song. (laughs)
Q9: What’s your favorite Disney character?
A: I wouldn’t leave out Mickey and Donald, but recently I’ve been hooked on Duffy.
Q10: Amongst all the projects on Gekkan Arashi, what’s the one project which you wanted to try out?
A: Yamanba!*
Translator’s note: Yamanba was a sub-culture where girls spotted the fashion of orange or blond hair with dark tanned skin. It peaked in popularity in 2000.
