Let us listen in on the five members’ secret talk!

A secret talk is held with just the five members of Arashi! They reminiscence about the past 11 years and even answer the most ridiculous questions!
With the setting of, “What if the five of them had a late night radio show?” the talk starts with the members answering questions on postcards that readers have sent in! Firstly, we start with the talk on their private lives~

Aiba: If we’re going to be on radio, we have to play a BGM. What should we play?

Nino: It has to be A.RA.SHI. right? We sung it 12 years ago, and it feels like things have come full circle.*
Translator’s note: Nino probably means the zodiac cycle, which is a 12 year cycle.

Aiba: I see. Well then, let’s play A.RA.SHI. while reading off the postcards! The first question is, “If the five members of Arashi were to take part in a relay, in what order would they run?”

Sho: Aiba-kun would be the anchor, right?

Aiba: Is that okay? Thank you very much!

Nino: Then, Sho-san will go first. Because Sho-san is a fast runner. (laughs)

Aiba: For Sho-san, if a penalty game is at stake, he’s really fast.

Nino: If the penalty game were skydiving he is definitely fast. (laughs)

Jun: He really hates it, doesn’t he~ (laughs)

Aiba: Well, Sho-san will go first. He will do us the honor of having the starting dash.

Nino: Then Ohno-san, a thousand apologies but would you do us the honor of being the coach?

Ohno: Hmmm, that’s okay. I’m slow at running after all.

Jun: Is Leader slow at running?

Ohno: Aren’t Nino and I about the same?

Nino: Are we the same~

Sho: Okay, then the third runner will be Nino, and the second runner will be Matsujun, I guess? Matsujun runs at the speed of “light”, doesn’t he?

Jun: Around that of “au HIKARI”. (laughs)
Translator’s note: au HIKARI is a broadband service provided by AU KDDI, which Arashi represents in commercials.

Aiba: We’re aiming for gold! Shall we go on to the next postcard? It says, “What time do you sleep?”

Jun: It depends on the day, I guess. (laughs)

Nino: That’s true. It depends on the day, but generally I sleep at 1am.

Aiba: For me, it’s generally 3am – 4am.

Jun: We’re the same, yes?
Aiba: After I reach home, and I do one thing or another, it ends up becoming 3am to 4am.

Sho: When I’m filming a drama, I hope to sleep at 2am though.

Nino: What time does Ohno-san sleep?

Ohno: About 3am.

Jun: Do you sleep that late even when you end work early?

Ohno: Basically it’s about 2am to 3am.

Aiba: Huh?? This is a question from Ohno Satoshi-san, residing in Tokyo City.

Jun: You wanted to know about our sleeping timings that much?

Ohno: Erm, simply put, I said, I wonder what they’re doing~ (laughs)

Aiba: Alright, the next one is a question from Aiba Masaki-san to everyone in Arashi. How did you spend New Year’s day?

Nino: It’s a question from Aiba-san? (laughs)

Aiba: Although I am part of Arashi, Leader did ask a question after all. (laughs)

Sho: In 2011, I went for a family vacation on New Year’s day. I guess it would be the same thing in 2012.

Jun: I watched “Arashi ni Shiyagare” with my family in my hometown.

Sho: Were you all hyped up?

Jun: There was a scene where Aiba and I donned wigs and toasted to the “First Sunrise of the Year”. As we watched that, we gave a toast and exploded in laughter. (laughs)
Translator’s note: The scene which Jun talks about is shown below.

Isn't that the First Sunrise of the Year? (a reference to the shiny bald head)

CHEERS~!

Ohno
: For myself, the family gets together every year for a Bingo tournament. We channel in to “Shiyagare”, but all of us are too engrossed in Bingo to watch the show.

Aiba: For me, when the New Year comes around, various Aiba families would gather at a relative’s house.

Sho: It’s an All Aiba* gathering. (laughs)
Translator’s note: Sho literally says, “All Aiba”.

Aiba: The various Aiba families, yes? We were all tuning in to “Shiyagare”, but the scene where we toasted to the First Sunrise of the Year was so embarrassing. You know, when you were a kid and you were watching television with your family, you would feel awkward when an erotic scene comes onto the screen, right? It was that kind of unspeakable shame. I was thinking, I guess I will return to my hometown, watch “Shiyagare” and have a taste of that embarrassment in 2012… (laughs)

Nino: I watched Shiyagare too, but I was alone at home…

Aiba: Huh, really? Was it lonely being all by yourself?

Nino: It wasn’t lonely at all! I had a blast of a time watching it!
