Is anyone else watching the xxxHolic drama?

This exceeded my expectations (although they were pretty low to begin with), the cinematography created an ethereal feel and the BGM fits the show very well.



Synopsis:  Kimihiro Watanuki is a high-school student who is disturbed by his ability to see the supernatural. One day, he meets Yūko Ichihara, a witch who owns a wish-granting shop. Watanuki requests to have his ability to see spirits removed and, as payment, Yūko hires him to work in the shop, resulting in various supernatural encounters.


Sometani Shota paints a portrait of Watanuki without the flail, but he captures the solitude and Watanuki's longing for a normal life.


Ah, the girl from Yakou Kanransha! Miyazaki Karen depicts Himawari-chan with the right balance of faux cute and sinisterness.


Doumeki~!! He doesn't appear much in this episode, but Higashide Masahiro sounds a lot like the original voice actor.



Alas, we have Yuko. I wish they hadn't cast Anne, as much as I like her. They had to make her look older using makeup and she doesn't embody the sexiness that Yuko does.


Maru and Moro were adorable though. Freaky kids. <3


Did I mention that I love the cinematography here?



Hmm... still not getting Anne as Yuko. She was good as Bela in Yokai Ningen Bem though.


I love the director's use of symmetry here.


Oh yeah! We get to see lots of cosplaying in this drama! How could I forget?

Is it new??? It's been so long since I did anything CLAMP! And I was a little disaapointed with the ending of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle - one of my peeves with it was that it felt a little like a ruch job.

Anyways , in spite of the Yuuko, it does look pretty!

just done flailing with it a while ago after i saw the dl links in plotboxes.. I'm really really happy that they've made a live action of it!! <3 and it exceeded my expectations ^^.

I think the plot of xxxHolic works very well as a cautionary tale, kinda like Aesop's Fables but told with a Japanese twist.

I wasn't expecting much out of it because fantasy manga remakes tend to be rather cheesy, but this worked very well! Still side-eyeing the casting director who put Anne there though. Yonekura Ryoko would have been much better in this role.

And true enough I don't like Anne as Yuko. When I saw her, the way the fixed her just didn't to the Yuko we know. lol XD but hopefully they'll try to fix that XD.

I think Anne is lacking in the sense that she doesn't ooze the sex appeal that Yuko does. But otherwise, I think the rest of the cast is looking great.
