I love it when actors talk about their jobs, so here I am with more translations between Oguri Shun and Matsumoto Jun on their latest collaboration - Smile.

Finally, the Golden Pair that we’ve been waiting for has been resurrected! We can’t help but be excited as the two-shot [of Jun and Shun] is materialised. Playing the ultimate badass villain, Oguri Shun adds colour to Smile, which stars Matsumoto Jun. We bring you the talk between the two passionate actors who mutually recognise each other’s talent!

Oguri Shun appears in the up and coming TBS drama, “Smile”! This is his first collaboration with Matsumoto Jun since they last acted together in Hana Yori Dango, so the precious two-shot is materialised.

Jun, Shun: It’s precious~!

Jun: We don’t know when we can do something like this in the future. It feels kinda strange. It’s so fresh that without thinking, we start taking pictures of ourselves with our handphone cameras! (laughs)

Shun: I came to the photo shoot today with the purpose of becoming a member of Arashi.

Jun: Which member? (laugh)

Shun: Nah, I don’t wish to replace anyone, I just want to be the 6^th member.

Jun: We haven’t had a photo shoot where it was just the two of us right?

Shun: Nope.

Jun: When we were doing Hanadan it was the four of us (F4). This is probably the first and last time. Oh, I just remembered, I’ve yet to receive an Oguri Shun T-shirt.

Shun: Ah, the I LOVE OGURI T-shirts? [the anniversary item which they gave out during the 100^th broadcast of Oguri Shun’s All Night Nippon show] I still hear that we have those. (laughs)

Even as we go into the private talk, we want to rapidly move on to talk about the drama…

Shun: But honestly speaking, there’s not much we can say at this point in time. Cause that’s the way my character is. [meaning to say that he’s afraid of giving away spoilers.]

Jun: That’s true, in April, we’ve yet to see clearly what your character brings to the plate.

Shun: That’s because I haven’t appeared [in the show] yet.

Monthly TV: Oguri Shun’s character, Hayashi Seiji appears only in the forth episode. [Hayashi] is a key person linked to Vito’s past who causes chills down people’s spines. How does it feel like to finally act opposite each other after so long?

Jun: It’s the worst feeling ever! (laughs) This time, Shun’s character is really villainous.

Shun: I never thought that I’d be covering such a role for a drama. (laughs)

Their first collaboration came in the 2002 hit drama series Gokusen. Have your impressions of each other changed since then?

Shun: What about it, Matsumoto-san?

Jun: Hmm, we were still acquaintances of sorts when we met in Gokusen. I had the feeling that we had distinctly different personalities.

Shun: For me, I didn’t have the sense of professionalism [that I do now] during the filming of Gokusen. I did like acting, however. Compared to me, Jun impressed me as someone who was really passionate about his work. I was really full of myself then.

Jun: Fufu [chuckles].

Shun: My whole countenance was one of impertinence. (laughs) The turning point in our relationship came during Hana Yori Dango, not surprisingly. During Hanadan, I guess my impertinence kinda diminished?

Jun: You’ve toned down, possibly…

Shun: I guess…

Jun: We had a strong sense of teamwork in Hanadan.

I was not surprise at all when I found out that Oguri Shun was in this drama with Jun also. They've been in the same drama quite couple years.

The only thing that I was surprise that Shun's character in this drama was totally opposite to Jun's character, but it was a really good drama. :)

They became good friends since they had two dramas togehter and with Hanadan for three years, ne ^^
