The Numbers 1 to 10.
For the members of Arashi who have just welcomed their 10th year anniversary, what sort of thoughts do they hold in their minds? Read on for a glimpse into their memorial talk!
In a commemorative issue celebrating Arashi’s 10th year anniversary and their 1st year of appearing in Non-no, the Arashi members are decked out in office wear to oblige the requests of Non-no readers. As we dwell on the topic of “Arashi in the Office”, we begin our calm and mild round table talk.
Nino: I wanna see Arashi members work in the office~ That’s quite like a mania, yeah? (laughs)
Sho: That’s so true. (laughs) It’s pretty refreshing and enjoyable to see all the members dressed in suits and being photographed in an office.
Aiba: The scene in the meeting room is something we re-enacted from our frequent pre-concert meetings.
Jun: You know, Riida often looks the other way in meetings. (laughs)
Ohno: I almost fell asleep today too. (laughs)
Nino: Come on, pull yourself together already! (laughs)
Sho: I wonder what roles we would take on if we all worked in the same company?
Nino: Riida seems like the type of supervisor who’s pretty slack and will OK any type of documents you give him.
Aiba: And when it’s time to knock off, he’ll leave at the regular time.
Ohno: Yeah, I probably will leave the office straight away. I can’t work any OT at all. (answers readily)
Jun: So that means he’s gotta be the director! (laughs)
Sho: Aiba-chan looks like he’ll run a lot of errands outside the office, right? Then he’ll come back looking all sweaty in his collared shirt!
Jun: And he’ll say, “I managed to sign another contract today!” (laughs)
Aiba: Cool, I’d like to try that once J Matsujun would be the stylish senior, I guess?
Sho: It feels like his desk will be extremely tidy. Everything of his is stylish, right up to his desktop wallpaper.
Jun: Ehh~ I’m pretty bad at tidying things up, that’s why my desk at home is really messy. (laughs) Sho-kun would be a reliable senior. It seems like he would accompany a junior doing OT all the way into the night.
Nino: You’ll have loads of admirers.
Sho: Ehh~~ I wonder… I guess I’ll probably help out if it’s a cute girl.
Ohno: Nino… seems like he’ll be photocopying things all day long.
Sho: Does that mean that he’s an expert in his field of study?!
Nino: What the heck, my field of expertise is photocopying?! (laughs)
Jun: Although we did brainstorm for a lot of scenarios, we wouldn’t end up working at an office, yeah?
Aiba: We haven’t had the chance to take on part time jobs either.
Ohno: We had to keep in pace with our surroundings.
Sho: So in other words, this can be summed up as “We’re glad to be in Arashi!” (laughs)
The five members look back on their 10 years together
We start the next topic with a game that captures their 10 years together. In order of their sitting arrangement, (OhnoàAibaàMatsumotoàSakuraiàNinomiya), the members are required to answer questions related to the numbers 1 to 10. As they pick their cards, the members let out cries of, “This is difficult!”
Your 1st single debuted at No. 1! Please recount your memories of your debut days.
Ohno: (deeply moved) I didn’t think that it would be a dream of mine to debut and form a group with these four members here. I was just shocked to hear that I was to have a debut conference in Hawaii.
Aiba: I had this strong impression that we were singing and dancing to “A.RA.SHI” without really knowing what we were doing.
Ohno: That really stuck in my mind. Even now, whenever I sing this song, I have this special feeling. The straightforward title is great too. (laughs)
Who’s the Nimaime （2枚目）of Arashi? [Translator: A nimaime actor refers of an actor who’s typically cast in heroic, handsome type roles.]
Aiba: That has got to be Matsujun! I most certainly felt it when I was watching the HYD Final on board the airplane.
Jun: HEY! That’s something that you should be watching in the movie theatre and not in the airplane, right?! (laughs)
Aiba: Sorry, sorry! (laughs) But you really communicated intensity and emotion! When I saw the climatic scene at the beach, I thought to myself once again, “Wow, [Jun] is really cool!”
Who’s the Sanmaime (3枚目) of Arashi? [Translator: A sanmaime is typically an actor cast in comedic roles.]
Jun: This is not a reply for casting me as the Nimaime, but it has got to be Aiba-chan! And he made a blunder just yesterday too! (laughs) While we were dancing during rehearsals, I heard Aiba let out a shout and ran about as he covered his groin. Just as I was worrying that he might have hurt himself, he said, “My pants tore apart!”
Aiba: I was soooo shocked!
The other 4 members: That’s OUR line! (laughs)
The 4 seasons. Which season of the year (spring, summer, autumn, winter) would you say Arashi is in right now?
Sho: Uwah… This is difficult!
Nino: Please justify your choice! (in an attempt to make things more difficult)
Sho: Hmm… I would go with “summer”. After we were given the privilege to hold our first ever Asia tour, it has felt like we’ve been in a hot season ever since.
The other 4 members: As expected, a great answer from Sho-kun!
The 5-Dome tour. Tell us one memory you have of the 5-Dome tour!
Nino: I felt pretty excited to visit places that we haven’t been to for a long time. I also remember that during the tour intervals we were able to eat the great-tasting food of each locale.
Jun: And we were featured prominently on television and in the news.
Nino: I mean for us, we’re just doing our usual thing and holding our concerts as per normal. But the response around us felt like we’ve been given the chance to do something awesome.
