The Arashi members continue numbering their memories - now featuring numbers 6 to 10. Included at the end of this article is a section on the messages of gratitude the members have towards each other for the past 10 years.
After 6. What has been one memorable thing about the time off which you spent together?
Ohno: This happened quite some time ago, but the five of us went to have a meal at the Ginza, right?
The other 4 members: (nostalgically) Yeah we did!
Nino: The next table had a lively Goukon (trans: group date), while our table only had the five of us guys. (laughs)
Ohno: I remember thinking to myself, “We can’t lose out to them!” and made sure our table was really lively too. (laughs) If I had to talk about memories of our time off together, it would have to be the meals we had. We went to eat together countless times.
Lucky 7. What was the luckiest thing you experienced in all your activities so far?
Aiba: If I had to pinpoint on one particular instance, it would be the concert we held at Kokuritsu. Although the weather forecast said that it would rain throughout the entire concert, the rain was somehow held back until the very last moment.
Sho: That’s definitely a miracle!
Aiba: That’s the first time we were so happy that the weather forecast was inaccurate! (laughs)
Yashi-o apartments, (Translator’s note: The word “Ya” is written as Eight in Japanese) the film set where the five of them shot the movie Pika’nchi. What would you say as you look back on the shows you starred in together?
Jun: The nonsensical storyline of the Pika’nchi series was interesting. And we had the privilege of starring together in Kiiroi Namida after that. Could it be that we easily fit the image of “friendship”?
Nino: (confidently) Well, that’s to be expected when you see how well we get along with each other!
Jun: But you know, I don’t have the confidence that we’ll be able to pull off acting together seriously from now on! (laughs)
The other 4 members: Eh~~ Come on, let’s act together! (laughs)
Last year, the articles on Arashi ran on 19/09/09. The issue this year also ran on the 9th! Tell us about what you think of Non-no!
Sho: Non-no covers different genres of articles, I think. From Matsujun and Satoshi-kun’s “The dance of Arashi” to Aiba-chan and Satoshi-kun’s “The comedians of Arashi”, you were able to bring such eccentricities to life. This issue, we were able to feel the connection with the readers so it made things really enjoyable.
The other 4 members: We wanna do something like this again sometime!
The last one has got to be our 10th year anniversary! Tell us how you feel now about welcoming your 10th year anniversary!
Nino: It’s just a simple, “I’m so happy!” Personally, I’ve never have much ambition going into the whole idol thing, so for me to have worked at it for 10 years and being able to create so many memories by working hard, is really a surprise for me. It’s really thanks to the support of all the fans.
Jun: We couldn’t have done our concerts or variety programs if it hadn’t been for everyone’s support.
The five members: Everyday, we express our thanks from the bottom of our hearts!
From now on, don’t take your eyes off Arashi!
As we talk about each member’s future, it’s filled with their homes and dreams!
Sho: Riida was into drawing, art and fishing for the past 10 years, so it looks like he might get into other hobbies for the next 10 years, right? He’ll eventually build something gigantic like a house. (laughs)
Nino: Something like a log cabin in the middle of the mountains. (laughs)
Ohno: Aahh~ That sounds like a good idea!
Jun: What the heck, you wanna be a hermit*? (laughs) Aiba-chan took up cooking recently right? Open your own store one day!
[Translator’s note: Jun says Sen’nin here, which in Taoism means a mountain wizard man of sorts, but I think hermit translates nicely too.]
Aiba: If I do, everyone has to come visit okay?
Sho: Matsujun will probably become less erotic and grow into a tasteful adult, yes? (laughs)
Jun: I’ll take utmost care not to become a non-erotic uncle! (laughs)
Aiba: Sho-chan looks like he’ll take part in some kind of election!
Ohno: Does that mean he’ll no longer be part of Arashi?
Sho: Eh~ Let me stay in Arashi!
Jun: Nino looks like he’ll master the secrets of magic and do a show in Vegas, right?
Sho: When that happens, the four of us should go and meet him in Vegas!
Nino: No matter how you think about it, we’re a group that covers a wide range of subjects. I would love to look forward to the future. (laughs)
Aiba: That’s right. [nods in agreement] We would like to work hard, with the gratitude from this season’s tour as our motivation…
Jun: We hope to spend our ultimate happy time together with the rest of the people in this country.
Sho: We’re really looking forward to it.
Nino: Well, let’s have Riida wrap up this session as per normal, shall we? (grins)
Ohno: (pauses for thought) Well in any case, we hope to continue what we’re doing with a smile on our faces! (sweet smile)

A message of gratitude: From Jun to Riida
Riida hasn’t changed one bit since we first met. He’s calm, gentle and goes at his own pace. That’s probably the reason why Arashi is the way it is. Recently the sunburnt is worrying me a bit. (laughs) Take care whenever you go fishing!
A message of gratitude: From Riida to Sho-kun
Whenever I’m out on individual assignments, Sho-kun definitely drops a note to tell me stuff like, “I watched your show!” or “Do your best!” I’m sure he does the same for the other members as well. Thank you for always watching out for Arashi!

Aiba-chan is the source of Arashi’s vitality! I feel that the members have been supported by that cheerfulness that naturally brightens the atmosphere of the workplace. I’ll give you a treat the next time, as part of my thanks to you for the past ten years! (laughs)

If I count the number of years I’ve known Nino, including the ones before Arashi’s formation, it has been 13 years. I really enjoy the times we spend with each other outside of work, playing grass-lot baseball and stuff. Let’s do our best together from now on!

Although Jun looks like a DoS [trans: sadist], (laughs) he’s really a kind person. He leads the way in concerts by throwing out ideas, and pulls everyone along with him. I think that’s really manly of him and respect him for that!
