barbosa2007I'm on a roll here so here's another interview from TV Life. The boys get to have a round table talk (yay!), and reminiscence about their time on Arashi ni Shiyagare.
In this second part of the TV Life interview, the members talk about their time spent on Arashi ni Shiyagare.
TV Life: Has there been anything which has left an impression on you this year?
Sho: The first episode of the year where we had Neptune-san on the show was a pretty shocking one, I think. I mean, there were the hideous figures of the 5 of us displayed on various television guides and magazines.
Jun: True. That was a terrific image. (laughs)
Sho: I mean, Matsujun and Aiba-kun were *totally*…
Aiba: I admit that I was pretty amazing. But, everyone was great too. (laughs)
Nino: Same goes to you.
Sho: On some magazine, the phrase “The Hosts of Kohaku, finalized!” was on top of that picture.*
Ohno: Yeah there was~ I remembered that it was written there, “The first group ever to host Kouhaku!” (laughs)
Sho: The people who saw that [article] must have thought, “Is this group going to be okay?”
Nino: That broke off the great start to the year.
Jun: Really? (laughs) Well, but that’s probably the great thing about “Shiyagare”. It’s not just the skits, but it’s precisely because things are impromptu that we get to carry them out.
Ohno: You have a point there. As we were caught dumbfounded, various things just progressed.
Jun: We were cornered in quite a few situations then. In the first place, there wasn’t an option where we could just say, “I don’t want to do this.” And if we didn’t do it we couldn’t wrap up. (laughs)
Ohno: Ah, last year’s Baka Tono* was pretty intense.
Translator’s note: Ohno was referring to the episode where Shimura Ken came on the show. The members had to dress themselves up as Baka Tono, otherwise known as the Stupid Feudal Lord.
Nino: We’ve finally come back to the topic! (laughs) But it was indeed intense. I mean, to have so many people as Baka Tono…
Jun: And the amazing part was that the Baka Tono looked different, depending on the person.
Sho: That’s right. Even though we had such a thick layer of makeup on, it really differs depending on the person.
Ohno: That was amusing~
Sho: By the time we came to Aiba-kun, it was no longer the Baka Tono, he was a transvestite in the early morning! (laughs)
Ohno: Somehow, his forehead was really narrow. (laughs)
Aiba: Well, I admit that too. (laughs)
Nino: But that made me happy, that I could become Baka Tono, someone I’ve watched ever since I was a kid.
Ohno: The guest that made me happy recently was Emoto Akira-san, because I’ve never met him before.
Sho: Your father likes him too, right?
Ohno: That’s right. Practically, almost all the people who have come to the show are people whom my Dad likes. Therefore, it kind of feels like I’m showing some form of filial piety. I’m happy, and Dad’s happy.
Jun: For me, when I had wished that Furuta Arata-san would come to the show and he really showed up at the next recording, I was shocked.
Aiba: Initially we would have various predictions about the guest, but for Gackt-san’s episode, the stage clothes we were wearing made it all too obvious.
Nino: We knew it almost immediately! (laughs)
Jun: Um hmm. But the punch line came when Gackt-san appeared in clothes that weren’t black. (laughs) And then, Kawashima Eiji and Uchida Astuto were great.
Sho: They were great!
Nino: That shot was amazing.
Jun: The way you made that kick was no joke.
Sho: I wonder when I’ll be receiving a call from Zaccheroni*… I was waiting for it too…
Translator’s note: Alberto "Zac" Zaccheroni is the football manager in charge of the Japan national soccer team.
Jun: Eh? You mean he hasn’t called?
Sho: Um hmm. He hasn’t.
Aiba: Did you confirm it with the company (Johnny’s Entertainment)?
Nino: That’s right. He could have made a call to the company.
Sho: Oh. Well then I’d better call to check. (laughs) And then there’s the Virtual Walkabout. I do like that corner, but I can’t accept the fact when they assert that this is something that Nippon Television has poured in all its energies to develop. It’s just a simple monitor! (laughs)
Jun: We get to see the spots which the guest recommends, and the corner is really interesting.
Nino: True, true. I enjoy that a lot.
Aiba: It would be nice if there were an overseas version.
Sho: That’s nice. I would like to go for a walkabout in Rome.
Nino: In other words, you would need someone who walks about in Rome to be a guest, right? Is there someone like that?
Jun: There might just be.
Aiba: Well, let’s look forward to that!
Sho: But the only people who will rejoice over this are the staff (who are going on location)… (laughs)

Here's a transcript from the opening talk of this week's Himitsu no Arashi. Jun and Sho talk about how they spent their summer.
Sho & Jun: A date where we play hosts to our female guest – VIP Limousine!
Sho : This is Sakurai,
Jun: And Matsumoto!
Sho & Jun: We ask for your favor today!
Sho: Well it’s already September, and summer has almost come to an end.
Jun: That’s right. In the twinkle of an eye, this summer went by.
Sho: Did you have time to do anything reminiscent of summer?
Jun: Nah, I really didn’t have the time.
Sho: If I had to talk about summer-related activities, on this program, Aiba-kun and I went for a summer break!
Jun: You sure did!
Sho: Oh man, I just can’t wait to go SUMO tubing again! It was SO fun!
Jun: That’s pretty nice. The plan they had.
Sho: They might just catch you off guard, when you least expect it.
Jun Are you serious? I refuse.
