I'm watching Yae no Sakura, since I was interested in the plot's premise and a lot of my favorite actors/actresses are appearing in this. It also takes place in an interesting period of Japanese history, where Japan ended its national seclusion and subsequently plunged into war.
I had my initial doubts about Ayano Gou as a daimyo, he seemed to have a far too contemporary look for a period piece and I guess his portrayal of the alien leader in GANTZ left too deep an impression upon me. But his acting cuts through all the rest! Not to mention, when I checked the portrait of the character he was portraying, they were surprisingly similar!
